Wood science

Heat, steam and water permanently change the wood, with no chemicals used, so it comes out more durable with a rich, even tone. That opens new uses for the wood across North American markets.

Kilns at LDCwood, Belgium, and ThermoCraft Ayous ribbed boards.

The process

Three phases in the kiln, run to one standard.

The wood is dried, modified with heat and steam at a steady high temperature, then cooled and brought back to a working moisture level with water and steam. No chemicals are used.
